Explanation
Tenegy 05, the world standard for all rubbers. Tenergy 05, which reigns over the world standard, was sold in 2008 and has been around for more than 10 years. The ball has changed from celluloid to plastic ball, and top players have come to demand the power and performance of the ball and demand hard rubber within the range that can be handled. The published hardness of Tenergy 05 is 36 ° according to the Butterfly standard. Even with the high manufacturing technology and quality control of the butterfly, it seems that there are differences in weight and hardness due to individual differences in rubber. I hear that the top players are choosing the rubber of the weight and hardness that suits them from the manufactured rubber. Apparently, in recent years, there have been many requests from top players to use the hard Tenergy 05. I think that the talk has progressed from the desire of top players to use it to commercialization. Therefore, in 2018, 10 years after the sale of Tenergy 05, Tenergy 05 Hard, which literally has a harder sponge hardness than Tenergy 05, was sold. It uses a 43 ° sponge that is 7 ° harder than the 36 ° that was not found in other Tenergy series (Tenegy 25, Tenergy 64, Tenergy 80). It will be a rubber that the number of users of top players is increasing.
Published performance value
Unlike other companies, Butterfly does not announce the change in speed performance and spin performance even if the sponge hardness is changed. I imagine that the easy-to-use technology and the potential of rubber are different. For the rubber potential, look at the published performance values, not the sponge hardness. In other words, the potential speed performance and rotation performance are the same with Tenergy 05 FX, which uses Tenergy 05 hard and soft sponge. Depending on the manufacturer, it may be stated that the softer the sponge hardness, the higher the speed performance of the published value and the easier it is to control, but Mr. Butterfly has the impression that he is sticking to a different stance.
↓ The horizontal axis has sponge hardness + spin performance.
Easy-to-use technics
Butterfly’s pamphlet shows a chart of “ease of doing” in various technologies of each “Tenergy” under the title “Let’s find your” Tenergy “”. You can also check it on the “Tenergy” special page on the homepage. Looking at the pamphlet, I measured the ease of doing each technology with a measure, and tried to show the numerical values in the figure below. Items
・ Ease of loop drive
・ Ease of hitting speed drive
・ Ease of counter drive
・ Easy to play on the table
・ Ease of blocking
・ Ease of smashing
It will be six. There are four personally important items: loop drive, speed drive, bench play, and block. It’s hard to hit the counter drive, and if the smash isn’t adhesive rubber, you’ll be used to it.
Looking at this chart, I think that Tenergy 05 hardware is good for drive technology. Blocking may still be difficult.
You can also see that Tenergy 64 is easy to use for smashes and blocks. I think the balanced rubber will end up being Tenergy 05 FX or Tenergy 80. I would like to actually try using Tenergy 05 hardware and review whether this chart applies, the shot feeling, whether it can be mastered, whether there is a difficult technique, etc.

Three features of Tenergy 05 Hard
05 Hard can be summarized in one word as “spin tension rubber close to adhesive rubber (Hurricane)”. And the rubber that supplements the speed that makes you feel dissatisfied with adhesive rubber becomes 05 hard. Then there are three features.
Adhesive rubber High quality loop drive that is as good as it is!
After all, 05 hardware is a loop drive! It will be a little longer, but let’s compare Tenergy 05 Hard with other rubbers.
vs Tenergy 05 & Dignics 05 & Dignics 09C
First, compare it with the same Butterfly rubber, Tenergy 05, Dignics 05, and Dignics 09C. Comparing Tenergy 05 Hard and Tenergy 05, I think that Tenergy 05 also has a strong enough rotation. However, compared to Tenergy 05, I think that 05 hardware can hit a loop drive with the same or more rotation amount, ball weight, and pressure. The weight and pressure of the ball and the expression become abstract. With Tenergy 05, over-misses occur depending on the amount of rotation, but with 05 Hard, in addition to over-misses due to the amount of rotation, net mistakes due to the difference in the amount of rotation of each ball, a stronger impact than Tenergy 05. I felt that the ball was clearly sharper than Tenergy 05, with a simple hitting mistake (such as hitting the racket corner or hitting my finger or arm) due to the pressure from the hitting sound that I could tell that I hit with. Next, I think that the Dignics series has a larger amount of rotation than the Dignics, but the 05 hard has a harder sponge, so I think it is easier to produce a low arc trajectory. Therefore, compared to Dignics 05 and Dignics 09C, I felt that the quality of the total loop drive of 05 hardware is higher in the total amount of rotation + low trajectory and shallowness. Also, because the sponge hardness is hard, compared to Tenergy 05, Dignics 05, and Dignics 09C, the 05 Hard has a slight change in the amount of rotation of the loop drive of each ball, and it looks like a habit ball. It should be noted that it is easy. I imagine that there are many users even among top players because of these characteristics.
vs Hurricane NEO III
Compared to Hurricane NEO III of Double Happiness Shanghai (DHS), which is a typical adhesive rubber, the sinking habit ball that seems to be a sticky rubber has a part in Hurricane NEO3. However, I felt that 05 hardware can be loop driven with a feeling that is quite close to adhesive rubber. In addition, Hurricane NEO3 will rotate and stabilize the speed drive by driving while opening the surface and hitting it. Even if I hit it in the same way as the Hurricane NEO3, I felt that it would rotate firmly on the 05 Hard (although the arc line was straight). Also, as described in the third feature, the speed drive from the middle team clearly had a part on the 05 Hard side. In conclusion, it can be said that 05 Hard is a rubber that can perform loop drive and downward rotation drive with a feeling quite similar to adhesive rubber, but can also drive from the middle team, which is disadvantageous with adhesive rubber.
vs V>15 Extra
Compared to VICTAS’V> 15 Extra, V> 15 Extra will rotate if you don’t rotate it so that it bites into the sponge even in a loop drive rather than driving with only the seat in the first place. It will be a difficult rubber. Therefore, using V> 15 Extra makes it a little harder to control the loop drive. I think that V> 15 Extra makes it easier to get speed and habit ball-likeness by rubbing while hitting even if you drop the hitting point, rather than doing a loop drive controlled shallowly and low. Therefore, it can be said that the types of drives that are easy to do are different. I think that the control of the loop drive and the amount of spin are outstandingly higher in 05 Hard.
vs Omega VII Tour & Omega VII Hyper
Compare with XIOM’s high-end rubbers, Omega VII Tour and Omega VII Hyper. The Omega 7 series is a rubber made in Germany, and it is a rubber that is easy to bite and handle for its heavy weight. Compared to 05 hardware, I think that Omega 7 Tour and Omega 7 Hyper have better overall ease of handling and speed during rallying. On the other hand, I think that the Max value of the rotation amount of the loop drive that draws out the potential of rubber is higher in 05 Hard.
vs Rasanter R53
Compare with andro’s red Rasanter R53. This R53 is a fairly high-performance rubber, and when compared only by the amount of rotation, it is the R53 that can draw out the amount of rotation equal to or more than 05 Hard. However, I felt that 05 Hard is easier to control the low and shallow trajectory required for loop drive. R53 has a slightly narrow grain shape and looks like a clogged shape, so it is a rubber that makes it easy to feel the ball coming off a little faster. It was a very high-performance rubber that was easy to make an arc even if the hitting point was dropped, and it was easy to put out a habit ball like R53, but it was a little difficult to loop drive with a slow, low and shallow trajectory.
vs Rhyzer Pro
Compare with Joola’s slightly older rubber, Rhyzer Pro. The riser pro had the feeling that it was possible to perform a loop drive with a feeling that was quite close to that of the 05 Hard. If you feel that the price of 05 Hard is high, I think there are quite a few riser pros. However, Riser Pro is shallow and easy to control when it bites only into the seat, but as soon as it bites into the sponge, it felt like it bounced more than I imagined. I felt that this area was different from 05 hardware. Also, I felt that the 05 Hard was better in terms of the amount of rotation and the ease of putting out.
Easy-to-stop tabletop Push & Stop
Push is very easy to do! There was a feeling of bitterness on the table that I could easily stop even if I slowed down the RBI or struck after the top. Thanks to this rubber, I often prevented the opponent from driving and took the initiative. If you are looking for a low and short tabletop like an adhesive rubber with a spin type tension rubber, I think it is 05 Hard.
Speed drive, which is difficult with adhesive rubber, is also Good
It was a drive from the middle team that made me feel like using 05 Hard as the main! At that time, I used Hurricane NEO3 for the fore, but I felt that it was difficult for the middle team drive to speed up due to the adhesive rubber, and it was often swung around. 05 I felt that I knew that if it was hard, I could rewind it from behind.
Each technics review
Fore hand
Light hit
I didn’t feel any discomfort when using it in the foreground.
Drive on long balls and rallies
It is easy to hit a sharp drive. Since the sponge is hard, it takes power to drive from the middle team, but 05 Hard has a feeling that it conveys that power firmly. I think there is little power loss.
面を開いたドライブ
Drive with open face
It was surprising, but even if you open the surface, it will take a firm drive. I thought it was peculiar to adhesive rubber and leopard, but even with 05 Hard, it had a pretty good rotation and it felt good. Because of this spin performance, I think that top Chinese players also use Butterfly’s rubber on the back side.
Loop (top spin) drive against back spin
I’ve already mentioned the details in the features section, but it feels pretty good. 05 Hard I think it is one of the merits. I think it is possible to aim for a score with a loop drive, and I think you can hit a high quality loop drive.
Speed drive against back spin
I felt it was not easy. After all, the sponge is hard, so it was difficult to bite into it, and it was difficult to apply drive rotation. In the chart table, speed drive was easy to get rid of, but it can be said that some technical skill or impact is required. By opening the surface and hitting the ball so as to make an arc at the time of impact, I think that speed drive will be easier.
Curve / shoot drive
Although it is a hard spring sponge compared to other high-end and hard rubber, it has a good bite, so it was easy to hit a curve / shoot drive with a curved trajectory. By using the opponent’s ball rather than going to spin from myself, when I spin while biting strongly into the sponge, the spin is stronger than I imagined and it felt good.
Block
It was better to hit the ball with an active block rather than hitting it flat. It is difficult to speed up because it depends on how you bite into it, but the stability of the arc line is truly tenacious. I think that it was evaluated that blocking is difficult in the chart table, but if you hit the ball so that you can catch it firmly on the ball, it will be stable and the sponge is hard so it is not easily affected by rotation and it was easy to do.
Counter drive
If anything, it was easier to do a counter drive that dropped the hitting point and applied my own rotation firmly. Since the bite is good, it was difficult to control the bite with a counter drive with a fast hitting point. If anything, Dignics was easier to counter.
Stop
It is as easy to do as mentioned in the features. It can be said that it is also a merit of using 05 Hard. Very low and shallow stops are possible.
Push
It’s low and shallow, and it’s easy to get rid of. I’m glad that it was easy to make a half-long push that just barely came out of the table. However, it is quite difficult to cut, and it is easier to rotate it by letting it bite into the sponge, but it was difficult to control.
Fore flick
I flick to put it on, but it was quite difficult to use 05 Hard because the ball was released quickly.
Serve
It was very easy to put out. I was impressed with the fast, back spin and top spin system serve. I think it’s easy to make a pattern by taking a long serve with a fast ball that you have to lift firmly, and counter-driving it in the back of the opponent or in the middle.
Back hand
Light hit
Because it is reasonably hard, it feels like it is easy to drop off as soon as the ball leaves. You need to get used to this feeling.
Drive on long balls and rallies
When I dropped the hitting point, it felt like it would take a lot of rotation, but I couldn’t keep up with my arm, and I mainly used a drive that was like playing. I think the good thing about Tenergy is that it still gets in.
Loop (top spin) drive against back spin
The loop drive in the backhand requires a lot of power. If you get used to it, you can hit a good drive, but if you don’t feel it in the first place, it may be tough.
Speed drive against back spin
Honestly, I didn’t feel like I could hit it properly. The backhand skill is insufficient.
Curve / shoot drive
When the hitting point was dropped, it was easier to hit a drive that bends more than I imagined.
Block
It was good that the ball stretched when I actively blocked. There was a sense of stability and it felt very good. This area is different for each person, and I think it is a part that cannot be imagined from the chart table. However, it may be a little difficult to hit flat.
stop
It is good because it is low and shallow. Sometimes push intention was a stop.
Push
As mentioned above. It was very good.
Chiquita
It was more difficult than I expected. If you let it bite into the sponge, it is easy to get a long distance, so there were quite a lot of over mistakes.
